I have had an avalanche of bad luck come down on top of my head in the past week or so, but I don’t want to let it make me feel gloomy. So here are some of the things that are perking me up lately:
Choirs and charity brass bands playing cheery carols on street corners, hot chocolate, Frozen soundtrack, walking around St Columb’s park at twilight, having not one but two beautiful Christmas trees in our house, the song “Dirty Paws” by Of Monsters and Men, having someone to share my music memories with, baking, fangirling, laughing at silly in-jokes, catching snowflakes in Animal Crossing and my friends and how generally awesome they are.
A Minute Or Two - Cider Sky
My Tauriel action figure watches over me from my bedside table.
I’m writing this wee rant because I keep seeing and hearing these men, on the internet AND in real life, crawling out of the woodwork to whine about how “women are getting too many rights nowadays, all these laws are all about protecting women and not us, bla bla bla”… Well yes, of course! We spent centuries, millenia even, being denied all these equal rights and we’re only catching up now in the past few decades.
When your reaction to women finally achieving something they should have been given a looong time ago (or something that mostly affects them and not you, like maternity rights) is to complain like this… to me it’s like watching you push somebody down the stairs and then cry “discrimination” because no-one is giving YOU any medical attention.
And *that’s* all I’m saying on that!
Happy 50th everyone!
Twenty three years and ten and a half months :)
i love being called lady by people like when kids are in ur way and their parents say “let this lady pass” it’s like heck yeah im a lady
Ooh, last week I was at the ice cream counter at a Chinese buffet and a man told his little boy to “wait til the lady’s finished” and I practically bounced back to my table, beaming because it’s the first time I was ever called “the lady” instead of “the girl” :)
